I had quite a few false starts with matplotlib this week before I got going… I should know better by now, but I still keep on thinking I can just go crashing in and extrapolate on what I know and it might work – time-WASTING behaviour!
If I may offer some tips (which I trust I will come back and read myself in future…):
- Do some research into the functions you want to use first
- Do some “proof of concept” tests with small uncomplicated datasets to validate the principles
- THEN only consider building what you were thinking of building
In the interests of not having to re-research my basic research another time in future, here is my guide the basic basics of matplotlib – with the bonus of a background plot image thrown in just for fun :).
